Feedback

This week, I am testing the Rapid Tab 7's with students.  I have given them the link to the blog and have encouraged them to comment.

These are the tasks I think a tablet should easily provide.  Students will try to accomplish the following with the Rapid Tab 7.  Click here for an evaluation form.

  1. I liked that it came with a keyboard and stylus and I also liked the moving background. But there's more things that I didn't like. I didn't like that it was hard to work. Out of all those things that Ms. Stevens listed above I only figured out how to do 4 of them. I didn't like the position of the camera and also the quality. I didn't like the charger because I had to unplug things just to charge it and that even took a long time, roughly 5 hours to completely charge. It was really slow on school wifi, not at my house though. And the last thing is I think it's way too thick. It's twice as thick as an iPad, maybe 3 times thicker. That's my opinion and I am great with technology, so it's not my fault I can't figure it out.

  2. The table was interesting that it came with a keyboard and stylus, but you couldn't get the stylus to work. The camera was very blurry and there was only a front camera not a normal camera like on other tablets. Many of the things that should be easy to find are not. Creating the digital stores and doing your homework on there I had a hard time finding how to even start to do this. I like technology but would not be using this again.

  3. I like that it came with the stylus and the keyboard. But I could not figure out how to make the stylus work either. It was all around hard to figure anything out. I really didn't like the fact it is only a front camera, that makes it hard to take pictures of actual activity instead of just yourself. The fact that it didn't have anything ready to go and easy to access was rally annoying and trying to figure out how to use it would probably take wayy to long.

  4. The tablet seemed as though it would be an interesting device at first sight. Once I started to try and look at the different things that it could do I found it hard to navigate anywhere on the tablet. I was able to get to the camera easily but that was about it. As stated above, it says that there should be some way to take notes and I didn't find anything on there that had that capability. It was either that there isn't anything with the capability of taking notes or I couldn't figure out how to find it.

On another note, the tablet came with a stylus and a keyboard. The keyboard seems like it would be very useful in taking notes if I could figure out how to find an application to take notes with it. The stylus seemed as though it would be an easy way to use the pad and not have to worry about having about your fingers being too big to click on what you want.

Overall, I am not satisfied with this tablet at all. It does not have the criteria that is needed.

  6. The tablet is basically a huge phone. This tablet does everything that my phone can do. It may be appealing to the eye at first but once you've had the chance to mess with it you will end up disappointed. The tablet came with a stylus which you are not able to use so that was a waste, and a keyboard. Personally I didn't like the keyboard I felt like it's cheap and that you could break it at any second.

Overall, I don't find this piece of technology useful. Everything that is on this tablet is right on my phone as well.

  7. This tablet is poop. The tablet doesn't seem like a very good investment due to how lacking it is from beginning, just being out of the box. To be able to do anything on this you would have to buy apps! Literally nothing comes directly useful from just getting it out of the box, not to mention that you have to charge it immediately. Although it does come with a case and keyboard the keyboard is just to small for fast typing and taking notes in a quick manner. All of the things that were on the paper to try on the tablet I couldn't do because they were accessible, such as "taking notes", I would have had to download a note app. The stylus doesn't even work. This tablet would be very hard to get used to and I don't get why someone would take the time to learn how to use such a horrible piece of technology ~ Bethany Dowell :)

  8. When I first took a look at the tablet I felt like a little kid in a candy shop; just ready to try all the candy, which in this case came in the form of apps. Its appearance is amusing, while carrying it around I received many comments on how "cute and little it was". And I agree it is very cute and small but for my liking a little too small. The miniature sized keyboard made it very difficult to type I had to keep going back to correct my spelling errors. The size of the screen also made it difficult to navigate through websites. I didn't really like how the tablet didn't include a mouse or navigating pad, it was very annoying having to touch the screen while it was upright in order to navigate through the web. I feel like this tablet shouldn't be handed to small children because it is too difficult for them to adjust to. While the tablet has its negatives I don't think it's horrible. I believe that it should be given to teachers as a tool for research and organization, but even they would have to receive training on how to use the Rapid Tab 7. I can say that the biggest asset of the Rapid Tab is its eye-catching appearance and portability.
